Week 2 Results
Posted by Nick Davala...

Nick Davala Week 2 proved no less thrilling than opening week! Sunday afternoon pitted Penguin FC vs. Middlesex United for top spot in the division, with Penguin FC gutting out the winning goal in the 88'. New England International continues is climb up the division with a win over Midnight Riders.

Week 2 also saw a controversial decision in the Arlington Athletic vs. HarborView Hustlers match, prompting the leagues revaluation of the substitute players rule. Minutemen FC, AC Boston and MIT are still looking for their decisive first victories, and round out the middle of the division with 2 ties apiece. The standings have been updated. Congratulations to our Players of the Match for Week 2:

  • Joshua Papapietro (AC Boston)
  • Gustavo Petrini (New England International)
  • Devin Ferreira (HarborView Hustlers)
  • Kenan Warner (MIT)
  • Leo Evriviades (Penguin FC)

Casa takes a week break to celebrate the Labor Day Holiday. The action picks back up again on September 11th at Lexington Christian Academy. Thanks to all the captains for the great work on waivers and jersey numbers.

Good Luck in Week 3.

Successful Scrimmage! Thanks to all who came out...
Posted by Nick Davala...

Nick Davala What a day! It was hot, but thanks to everybody who made it out to Cambridge for a great 2-hour scrimmage. It appears that a skilled FA team is in the works, and we welcome them to Casa!

Casa is still looking to fill out the divisions in anticipation of the August 21st opening week. We like to set up another scrimmage in two weeks on August 8th for any additional Free Agents that are interested in playing. We are also looking for more teams and encourage you to contact us if you are interested in joining. You can also register a team on the website, by clicking here.

Again, thanks to all the players that came out, and thanks to Minutemen FC for hosting! It's going to be a great season!

Fall 2010 Registration Open, Free Agent Scrimmage and Updated Schedule
Posted by Nick Davala...

Nick Davala Registration for the Fall 2010 Season is now open!

A few notes about the registration process:

  • The team registration is $1250, plus a $200 refundable deposit. You get the deposit back at the end of the season if your team does not forfeit any games. You may also choose to apply your refund to future seasons.
  • These costs pay for all referees, field rental, equipment, and league expenses. This league is non-profit, run by volunteers, so we're not getting paid for our time!
  • We will now have two divisions, Primera and Segunda, with promotion and relegation between the two. Check out the League Rules for information on how this works.
  • All new teams are eligible only for the Segunda division for their first season, with the expectation that they would earn their way into Primera. However, you may request to have your team considered for Primera directly with the appropriate box when you sign up. To be accepted, the core of your team must have some record of success in other leagues.
For Free Agents that have registered, we will be organizing a scrimmage against one of the current Casa teams. This is most likely going to occur on Sunday, July 25 from 12pm - 2pm. This will give you a chance to get out and get a feel for the competition, as well as meet some of your Casa Soccer League colleagues. If you haven't heard from us already and would like more detail about this, please drop me a line at nick@bostonsoccer.org. Definitely put this on your calendar!

Speaking of calendars, dates for the Fall 2010 season have been released. The detailed schedule will be available as soon as possible. Please feel free to send any questions of comments to nick@bostonsoccer.org.

It's almost time to begin... very exciting!

Soccer Coaches Needed!
Posted by Tom Adams...

Tom Adams And here's another great way to put your skills to use:

This fall, the Lexington Christian Academy is seeking to hire soccer coaches for their fall academic term. Currently they are seeking head coaches for boys soccer at Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School levels and girls soccer at JV and Middle School levels. An assistant coach for boys varsity is also needed. See this announcement for details.

Many Casa players and officers have been coaches at LCA in the past. It's a great way to be a part of the local soccer community. And, your home games and practices shouldn't conflict with the Casa schedule!
